The main functional element of the plasma filter is a flat lavsan membrane, thickness of 10 µm, with a track-etched pores of 0.4 µm in diameter. The membrane enables free passage of liquid media of blood, filtering out great bulk of blood corpuscules (erythrocytes and leycocytes).
